Jay Wedding
Jay is a town in Essex County, New York, United States. The population was 2,306 at the 2000 census. The town is named after John Jay, then governor of New York.
The Town of Jay in on the north border of the county. The Town of Jay was formed in 1798 from part of the Town of Willsboro. It was formerly known as Mallory's Bush, probably from early settler Nathaniel Mallory, who arrived around 1797. The north town line is the border of Clinton County, New York. US Route 9N passes through the town.

As of the census2 of 2000, there were 2,306 people, 918 households, and 651 families residing in the town. The population density was 13.1/km (34.0/mi). There were 1,443 housing units at an average density of 8.2/km (21.3/mi). The racial makeup of the town was 98.44% White, 0.30% African American, 0.22% Native American, 0.13% Asian, 0.17% Pacific Islander, 0.26% from other races, and 0.48% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.61% of the population.
